After the arduous task of being forced to purchase a new phone (old one would no longer hold a charge and had been dropped too many times), I was struggling with how to access my emails and apps that were tied to the Microsoft Authenticator app. I reached out to Crown Computers for help. What does a managed IT service provider do?

A managed IT provider runs your technology so you do not have to. That means a helpdesk your staff can call, monitoring and patching of every computer and server, security tools like email filtering and endpoint protection, backups with a recovery plan, and upgrades planned before things break. We also hold quarterly business reviews with you to talk about your technology, how we can keep improving it, and your IT budget, so our recommendations stay both tactical and strategic. You get an IT department for one predictable monthly cost.

How much does managed IT support cost in San Diego?

Most managed IT providers, Crown included, price per user per month, and that price covers support, monitoring, patching, security tooling and backups. Projects such as a server replacement or an office move are quoted separately. The right number depends on how many people you have and how much compliance work you need, so call us and we will give you a straight quote.

We already have an IT company. How hard is it to switch?

Switching is a planned handoff, not a cutover. We follow a project template for onboarding new clients, one we have refined over the years across many migrations. We document your environment, take over accounts and tools in stages, and keep your current provider’s access in place until everything is confirmed working, so nothing drops in the middle.

Do you only work with businesses in San Diego County?

Yes. Crown has been in San Diego since 1996, and we keep our clients local so an engineer can be on site when it matters. If your main office is in San Diego County and you have a small branch elsewhere, we can support that branch remotely.

Who answers when something breaks?

A live person answers the phone at 858-483-8770 from 8am to 5pm. We have a rule: during those hours, you always reach a real human being, no matter what. After hours, we still answer. Listen to the message, then press the number on your keypad to reach our emergency line. Urgent issues go straight to an engineer instead of waiting in a queue, and our monitoring catches many problems before anyone on your team notices them.

Can you help with CMMC requirements?

Yes. We work with defense contractors on CMMC in San Diego County, mainly at Level 2, which is built on the 110 security controls in NIST SP 800-171. Those controls include 320 assessment objectives, and we document them in our GRC platform. We put the technical controls in place and maintain them in conjunction with your team. That includes multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection, backups, access policies and vulnerability management, along with the other requirements Level 2 calls for. We also write and keep current the documentation an assessor will ask to see, such as your system security plan. What size of business is the right fit for Crown?

We work with businesses that have 10 to 200 users. Most have no IT staff. Some have a small IT team and want an experienced partner behind it.
